Thoughts: Time, Death and Living The Adventure.

Subject: Meditations On Time and Living An Adventure.

You can’t hear much out there.

Just the sound of the birds and the wind howling through the trees.

The air is always fresh during the night.

It’s a spot I go sometimes and not often enough.

A spot where you can see every star that twinkles high up in the sky.

And it’s quiet out there.

It’s magic out there.

High up on this hill in the countryside that I grew up in – I think about many things.

I think about this vast expanse of space that my planet floats in.

I think about the mysteriousness of it all.

And in the silence I wonder.

The silence always makes me wonder.

For it is only in silence that we can truly slow down and think deeply about ourselves and our lives.

Ever since I was a young boy, the night sky has always enchanted me and taken me to another world.

Wondering what is out there and what exists beyond the horizon.

It makes the adventurous think.

Time is something I often think about when I sit out in the darkness, high up on my hill.

Time has always fascinated me.

Have you ever really stopped to think about time?

You use it every single day.

It governs your life.

Time is what your life consists of.

When you were born, your clock started ticking.

As soon as your eyes opened - the countdown began.

Every second that passes is time that you will never get back.

One thing that all the old people I know seem to agree upon is that life simply vanishes.

And that is exactly what it does.

In our youth the years roll past us as though they’ll never come to an end.

And in our foolishness we fall for that lie.

We forget we’re mortal.

Alive on nothing more than a short and unpredictable lease.

With terms and conditions that we’re not aware of.

Nothing can buy us back the time we have lost.

Nothing can give us a second chance at our lives.

Nothing.

Not money.

Not power.

Nothing.

It is this fact of life that makes time the most valuable resource in the universe.

For time, once gone, is gone forever.

And with every tick of the clock - death moves a little bit closer.

Whether or not you are living your life.

Have you ever stopped and really thought about this?

Have you contemplated the uncomfortable truth that you are dying right now as you read my words?

Probably not.

Humans don’t like doing shit like that.

But death will come for you regardless of what you do.

It could be tomorrow.

It could be next week.

It could be next month.

You don’t know and neither does anybody else.

It is this that makes all men equal.

For every man bleeds.

And every man is at the mercy of time.

All of us must answer to the same master at some point in our life.

Time levels everything.

Not even the universe itself can escape time.

Even it will decay.

Death is the only promise that comes with life.

It is within you right now.

You cannot escape it.

And you will never stop it.

This will scare you if you sit down and think about it in silence.

But it will also free you if you truly accept it.

It will free you to live your life how you want to live it.

It will give you perspective.

And it will give you courage.

Time, unlike money, cannot be regained and it’s value does not change.

One second will always be one second.

One hour will always be one hour.

So use it wisely.

Spend it doing what **your heart is set upon.
**
Spend it living a life that makes you feel full.

These are the things I like to think about in the silence of the dark countryside.

By a fire that is warm and enchanting.

I like to think about how I spend my time.

I like to remind myself that as I sit out there, under the stars in the dead silence of the night – death is coming for me out in that darkness.

He moves closer to me with every breath I take.

And he could take me any day of the week.

I don’t get to choose when he comes.

Neither do you.

One day the heart within my chest will cease beating.

And so will yours.

But if death came right now, I would greet him with a warm smile.

I would not be upset.

And I do not fear my death.

I’m not afraid of the darkness.

For I have lived fully and followed my heart so far.

There is nothing that I regret.

And although I’m still as lost and confused as any other normal human in this world - I have done what I know to be right for me.

I have lived an Adventure.

Travelled on a journey that has led me to exactly where I am right now.

To exactly who I am right now.

My life has unfolded in a strange way so far.

I’ve met a lot of interesting people.

I have done many interesting things.

And I have fucked a lot of things up too.

I’ve done things that make more sensible people shake their heads and label me a mess.

But at the end of the day - I’ve always faced the man responsible.

I have always come through.

Wiser. Stronger. Better.

So to the people who consider themselves perfect and do nothing but talk shit about the faults of others.

Go fuck yourself you annoying cunts.

My mistakes have taught me a lot of things - at least the ones I have learnt from.

They have taught me to be grateful.

To appreciate the little things.

For it’s the little things that make up the bulk of your life.

So you should stop ignoring them.

Maybe it’s a hot cup of coffee on a cold morning.

Maybe it’s the warmth of the woman who loves you.

Maybe it’s watching children play with no care for anything else.

We should all be a little more like those children.

Too often we let bullshit ruin our day.

I do it all the time.

I’m sure you do too.

But try not too.

Because bullshit is just bullshit.

It does not matter.

So let’s be thankful for each day that we live.

For it is a gift we are lucky to have and one day we won’t wake up to see the sun rise.

So be grateful - no matter the cards life has dealt you.

And if you don’t like those cards.

Do not complain.

Do not be a victim.

Take those motherfuckers back to life and fight like hell for better ones.

And I promise - if you don’t give up and you’re willing to make some noise, life will reshuffle the deck for you.

It works that way

So if you think you are beaten.

If you think life has finally won and there’s nothing better for you.

That’s a lie.

If you can breathe - you can fight.

Defeat is a choice

Remember that.

Tattoo it to your soul.

Defeat is a CHOICE.

Until Next Time.
