Ready is an illusion

Overcoming Procrastination.

In my profession I often hear people tell me they are not ready.

So I usually ask them…

What does ready mean?

Ready is an illusion. It’s a mental anchor of comfort that keeps people trapped in circumstances that are less than ideal for them, but comfortable enough to forgo any major change that may potentially introduce uncertainty.

So they put off and push back what must be done until some unknown point in the future, where they think the stars will suddenly align and the timing will be perfect.

But the truth is far from this.

In reality the time is never right, nobody is ever ready - what does ready even mean?

It’s a load of shit.

We all know exactly what we need to do in order to move the needle forward, but few of us actually do it. Maybe it’s a course you need to invest in. Maybe it’s a difficult conversation you need to have. Maybe you need to quit a job, start a business, or do something that’s uncomfortable and painful to imagine.

That’s precisely why you put it off. Because it is hard wired into your brain to pursue pleasure and run from pain, but the thing is that in life…what is hard is often good, and what is easy is often bad - this is the paradox.

If you can understand this, you will gain an unfair advantage in life because you will know that everything you don’t want to do, is what you often need to do, and that fear and procrastination are demons that must be slain.

I hear it all the time.

Tomorrow, next week, I’ll do it after XYZ, but, but, but.

There’s a good reason most men have shit lives that they hate. There’s a good reason depression and anxiety are at all time highs in the modern world. It’s because we have become weak. You don’t do what you are supposed to do, when you are supposed to do it. You have an unlimited supply of dopamine and are drugged up on imaginary accomplishments when the reality is you are EXACTLY the same as the man you were one year ago.

Which is a hard thing to stomach, a brutal pill to swallow. That you are disgustingly average in everything you do, and nobody would give a fuck if you died tomorrow. You could be replaced instantly because you have no genuine skill. You have nothing original or unique within you because you have never LIVED and all you’ve ever done is consume shit through the internet from what other people have done.

You don’t know who you are because you’ve never given yourself the opportunity to learn, and that opportunity comes in the form of living life. Not cowering in a corner and hanging on to comfort like a crackhead latched onto a bag of pills.

It’s incredibly simple to change your life and start getting what you want. I’ve done it myself, and I’ve helped plenty of others do the same.

You simply clear your mind, look at what needs to be done, and you go do it. Instead of sitting around thinking about it, putting it off, and making excuses for why you haven’t changed in the last five years. For why your bank balance hasn’t been where you want it, ever. For why you are always stressed and depressed and leaning on entertainment or food as a cope for the life you hate living.

All of us think about changing our lives. Everyone wants to. Everyone wants more money, more success, more of the good things in life - but not everyone is going to get those things because they are not willing to make the sacrifice required. All they do is THINK about what they need to do, instead of doing it.

Here’s a little secret I like to share with people;

When most of us think about something, we are not thinking about it.

Why?

Because you don’t know HOW to think, and if you did you would have everything you desire.

The human mind is the most dangerous and powerful instrument on planet earth. Everything around you came from the mind of man. All of it is the product of someone who knew how to genuinely think. But the common man cannot think, is incapable of thinking, has no idea what true thinking is.

Thinking for the average man is nothing more than a confused hurricane of worthless ideas bouncing around the walls of his mind. You are buried under layers of social programming and limiting beliefs. Your thinking is mere confusion, chaotic impulse, undirected power. That is why you can “think” about something for years and never have a single fucking thing change in your life.

You don’t know how to think.

Toss a coin into the air and watch it spin through time.

In that 3 seconds while it’s in the air and your eyes are fixed on it, make a decision.

Learn to use your gut instinct. Learn to trust it. Learn to tap into the relentless power the mind possesses.

You know exactly what you want.

You are just afraid to admit it, and you don’t believe you can have it.

But….you can.

All you have to do is learn how to use that thing between your ears, get it under control, and start owning your circumstances instead of blaming them.

I sat in rooms by myself for seven years trying to understand how all this works. Then a few things suddenly clicked. I have what I want, and I’m telling you - there’s no reason you can’t have what you want too, other than this need to do everything tomorrow and wait until you are ready.

Ready is an illusion that leads men off into a horizon that doesn’t exit and down into a chasm of wasted life, where one day they wake up and realise ten years have passed. Nothing is different, nothing has changed.

It is a fuckin’ fantasy.

Continue to hold onto it while time slips through your fingers like a handful of sand off the beach, or realise how fast life has already passed and recognise that you are exactly the same as you were last year - then do something about it.

Thanks for reading.
