How To Be Effective.

Most of the things we do on a daily basis are a total waste of time. Travelling to your job, reading books, talking to people, thinking about your life - none of it moves the needle and gets you closer to the life you keep imagining.

Subject: Developing Effectiveness.

Most of the things we do on a daily basis are a total waste of time.

Travelling to your job, reading books, talking to people, thinking about your life - none of it moves the needle and gets you closer to the life you keep imagining.

But people like to do all of this bullshit because it makes them feel like they are getting things done, when in fact they are not.

The truth is that only a small handful of the things you do each day really count.

Understand?

80% of the bullshit you spend your time on does nothing of true value.

The other 20% is what move you closer to those goals you’ve got written down.

Let me give you an example:

Every day when I wake up, there is an endless line of shit that I have to do, but out of that endless line of shit - only a small amount of it needs to be done.

1 - Make phone calls, send emails and speak with various people about particular matters

2 - Perform work for clients and solve their problems

That’s my 20%.

The rest of the crap that fills up my day is completely irrelevant bullshit.

The zoom meetings. The note taking. The book reading. The “thinking”. The talking. The walking.

None of it counts for a fucking dime because none of it gets the job done.

Do you understand this?

When you work a normal job this does not matter, because you just do what you’re told and be a good little cog: do your work, do it well, keep the boss happy, and go home.

But if you are in a position where your DECISIONS are high value, where your time is valuable, and where not delivering what you said you would deliver will negatively effect your life - then it starts to matter how you operate.

It’s about being effective, not efficient or productive.

Effective.

Get the right stuff done at the right time and make sure you do it properly.

I can spend ten hours a day at my desk writing emails, making calls and feeling productive.

Or.

I can spend four hours a day at my desk working with complete and absolute focus, intensity and intention.

Simplicity is the key to a better life because it cuts through all the shit.

Take a moment to step back from everything you’re doing and analyse what moves the needle forward for you.

Identify the few core actions you need to take each day in order to move closer to your objective, then execute with AGGRESSION on those select actions.

Whether it feels good or not is irrelevant.

Often what counts the most is the most uncomfortable.

Remember that.
