From The Desk of Maverick Brenton.
Subject: Being Authentic.
Would you like to know an obvious little secret?
It’s only a little one.
Not a big one.
Yes, you say?
Here is the obvious little secret:
The majority of people are not real. They are fake. And they hide behind a carefully constructed mask that only shows you what they want you to see.
They’re professional pretenders - with fake smiles, fake laughs and fake personas that change as soon as they are no longer exposed to the world.
Instead of showing the world who and what they really are, they hide who and what they really are, for a very simple reason:
FEAR OF JUDGEMENT.
We all care far too much about what other people think because it’s built into our biology to care about what other people think.
There once was a time when it mattered what people thought about you: because your safety, your security and your life depended on it.
But.
Thanks to thousands of years of evolution and technological advancement - we are no longer in the fucking stone age and now you can be whoever the fuck you want to be.
It no longer matters what other people think about you.
You. Are. Free.
And you can do exactly what you want to do.
All you have to do - is go do it.
Normal people know this deep down, but normal people are afraid of what other people think about them, so instead of doing what they want, they hide in fear, and they wear their fucking masks to fit in and be accepted by other people - who do exactly the same thing.
They smile when they don’t want to smile. They laugh at shit they don’t find funny. And they be nice when they don’t want to be nice.
Fear dominates their minds.
And so everything they do is tainted with fear.
They are afraid to show the world who they really are and how they really feel because they are afraid the world won’t like it.
So - they keep their mask on and they hide.
When they go to work, they smile because that’s what they’re supposed to do.
They pretend to like the people they work with, when they don’t.
They pretend to be happy, when they are miserable.
They pretend everything is fine, when everything is actually fucked.
The life of the average individual is similar to a carefully rehearsed play - and the theme of that play is bullshit.
People live like this because it is what they are trained to do.
Growing up - they’re trained to pretend, to fit in and to just do what they’re told.
What a miserable joke.
Here’s a little story for you that will demonstrate my point:
Years ago, when I was a younger, my parents were going through a divorce and shit was rough.
My siblings and my mother were in a women’s refuge because they had nowhere to live.
I was with a friend because I was too old to be in the refuge.
After some time - we found a new home and slowly things began to get better as we settled in and adjusted to our new world.
During this time though, I was angry, I was hurt and I was confused - we all were.
And so I was in trouble at school because I was restless, out of order and not doing what was expected of me.
All I cared about was lifting weights and escaping into my books.
One day, after getting sent out of class, I found myself in the principal’s office and he said the following words to me:
“Maverick, I know your parents are currently getting divorced and your home life is a mess, but when you come to school - you have to put on a mask and forget about all of that because school is more important. Can you do that?”
The idiot who ran my school actually said that to me: knowing well and clear what I was currently going through.
Obviously a young kid with his entire world upside down cannot just forget about it. My family had been torn apart. My mum was a mess. And my dad was a mess. Everything was a mess.
I had nobody and nothing to turn to - except for the one thing that saved my life and my sanity on numerous occasions: the gym.
And this is exactly what I am talking about.
I was expected by this retard to literally put on a mask and hide everything that was going on inside.
The pain. The confusion. The anxiety. The despair. The anger.
I was expected to just bury it all.
I was expected to act like nothing was wrong with my situation.
I was expected to be a fake.
These expectations are the expectations that all normal people live by - and they wonder why they’re so miserable, lost, anxious, frustrated and angry.
They’re living a lie, that’s why.
Here’s something you probably know:
On planet earth, walking around with arms and legs and heads - are some incredibly stupid motherfuckers, and this fella was one of them.
As you probably figured, I didn’t swallow what he was forcing down my throat.
Instead - I walked out of his office, went home and had a great leg workout that consisted of heavy back squats, reverse lunges and some high rep calve raises.
I didn’t wear a mask then, I don’t wear a mask now and I will never wear a fucking mask.
Why?
Because I’m a Real Dealer - not a fake fanny.
I’m Maverick Brenton.
I’m the Unconventional - personified.
I’m an individual on the warpath.
A One Man Army - here to be the light for those in the darkness while taking a shit on the dogma that is designed to make us all into slaves.
I know who I am.
And I know why I was put on earth.
Normal people have no idea who they are - they’re just wandering the earth aimlessly.
Most of them don’t even know they are wearing a mask.
They have worn a mask for so long that they now think the mask is who they really are.
Every morning when they get ready to live the life they don’t like - they look in the mirror and they see the mask.
Every night, before bed - they look in the mirror and they see the mask.
But they don’t know it’s a mask.
Something is wrong. Something is missing. And they know it.
The solution to this pathetic waste of your life is simple:
Take off the fucking mask, become who you are, do what you want and go after the things that you really care about in your life.
The longer you have been wearing your mask, the harder it’s going to be to pull it off - but the better it will feel once it is off.
It will be like walking out of a dirty public toilet into the crisp, fresh air of a beautiful sunny park: everything will look better, feel better, smell better and be better.
When you show yourself to the world, the good, the bad and the ugly - you become free.
And until you can take off the mask, you will continue to suffer.
Here is another little secret for you:
Once that mask is off, and you expose who you really are to everyone around you without giving a rat’s ass about their opinion – they can do nothing to hurt you.
Some, the losers, will hate you for it.
And, others, the winners, will love you for it.
“But Maverick, what if they say nasty things to me?”
Here is my advice to those of you who are bothered by words:
Words are powerful tools.
But words are just words, and once you understand that - words will no longer bother you.
Words cannot harm you unless you allow them to harm you.
They are not even a physical object - they are just sounds that come out of your fucking mouth when you speak.
If words hurt you, you’re just being a pussy.
If you don’t want words to hurt you, stop being a pussy.
_So.
_
Enough with the fake smiles.
Enough with **the pretending.
**
Take off your mask and smash that fucker with a hammer.
Show the world who you are.
Until Next Time.
